His theoretical works are quoted even today, and history of music remembers him as Beethoven's teacher. However, the most original and fresh chapter of his work: the compositions written in his early period, are almost entirely unknown to the audience of our days. The Albrechtsberger volume of the series "Denkmaler der Tonkunst in Osterreich" (XVI.2., edited by Oskar Kapp) - published in 1909 -was not the most excellent selection of his works. The best part of his early symphonic, and chamber music, and his concertos had to wait for one century and a half to be discovered in Esterhazy Archives. The publication of these works has only been commenced in recent years, among others, in the volumes of the present series (Musica Rinata No 1,2,10,17).
