This novel centers on the figure of Jesus Aguirre, former priest, doctor in theology, and prominent intellectual. He was the head of Editorial Taurus, a member of the Real Academia de la Lengua, and of Bellas Artes de San Fernando, but he is perhaps most recognized for being the consort of the Duchess of Alba.
