The exception is that if the main body of the plant is diseased, we can cut it down and renovate the tree with the vigorous sucker. 135. Pruning as a remedy for disease. Pruning is an admirable remedy for certain diseases that originate within the tissues of plants. Judicious and energetic use of the knife will sometimes stamp them out.
