Since it was first published in 1968, Basic Ship Theory has become established as the standard introductory text for students of naval architecture and a reference book for the more experienced designer. Volume 2 expands on the basic concepts covered in Volume 1. It discusses the dynamic behaviour of marine vehicles, hydrodynamics, manoeuvrability and seakeeping. It concludes with a discussion of maritime design and of some particular ship types. It hightlights the environment and how ship and human interaction with it affects safety and pollution issues.
