(1824-1909) was the Suffragan Bishop of Guildford at the end of the Nineteenth Century and the beginning of the Twentieth. Born on 3 July 1824 into an eminent ecclesiastical family and educated at Eton and Balliol, he was ordained into the priesthood in 1847. His first post was a curacy in Crawley after which he was Rector of Old Alresford and then Archdeacon of Winchester before his elevation to the Episcopate. He was the author of Churchwardens' Manual: Their Duties, Powers, Rights, and Privileges (1890).
