High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! This is a list of cities in the Nordic countries by population. The population is measured on a national level, independently by each statistical bureau. Statistics Sweden uses the term tatort (urban settlement), Statistics Denmark uses byomrade (city), while Statistics Norway uses tettsted (urban settlement). In Denmark and Sweden, these terms are defined as a continuous built-up area whose population is at least 200 inhabitants and where the maximum distance between residences is 200 m. In Norway, the maximum distance is 50 m, but distances up to 400 m are used in certain circumstances. Many urban areas throughout the Nordic countries have witnessed conurbation and grown together.
