She was a member of the Society for Promoting the Employment of Women. She considered compositor's work (a comparatively lucrative trade of the time) to be a possible mode of employment for women to pursue. The Victoria Press continued in operation for twenty years, producing a solid body of work including thirty-five volumes of the Victoria Magazine, which advocated the right of women to gainful employment. Her works include: A Reed Shaken With the Wind (1873) and Three Visits to America (1884).
